Best way to teach a child to ride a bike

Give the child a bike that is small enough for the child to sit on the seat with both feet flat on the ground, knees bent, and legs spread enough to avoid the pedals. The child can practice pushing off and coasting and gradually get to the point of putting the feet on the pedals and pedalling more and more. This method works quickly with little effort and little chance of injury. Borrow the little bike. It only takes a day or two to learn to ride it. In a couple of weeks or less, you can give the child a bigger bike. :-)
